A Band New Edition of The Adventures of Ntate Molefe!

Updated: Oct 19, 2020

This is it! A special Edition of The Adventures of Ntate Molefe - The Rainbow Edition, our latest in Ntate Molefe's awesome adventures.

This is a special project for us at BB Comics (Pty) Ltd., not only because it is our first funded project, but because it is true to what we started writing comics for, it addresses social justice.

Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Intersex and Gender Non-Conforming (LGBTI and GNC) persons, face massive discrimination in South Africa, across Africa and the globe. This is an absolute travesty as ultimately people are hated and discriminated against purely for who they are, who they love and how they present themselves to the world, without harming anyone in the process.

The Other Foundation an absolutely phenomenal Civil Society Organisation - an African trust that advances equality and freedom in southern Africa with a particular focus on sexual orientation and gender identity - funded this edition of Ntate Molefe's Adventures. The Other Foundation gathers support to defend and advance the human rights and social inclusion of LGBTI and GNC people in southern Africa – and it gives support to groups in a smart way that enables them to work effectively for lasting change, recognising the particular dynamics of race, poverty and inequality, sex, national origin, heritage, and politics in our part of the world. It does this by working both as a fundraiser and a grant maker.

The Other Foundation, after granting BB Comics (Pty) Ltd. funding, enabled us to write and create a comic book that assists in the protection and promotion of LGBTI and GNC persons' rights, enabling us to exhibit the many ways in which same sex couples (in particular) are discriminated against in all forms of life. Through family, in the workplace, in religious spaces and even our living spaces, LGBTI and GNC persons constantly face physical, psychological and sexual violence form hetero-normative society. We believe this story also shows the senseless of this type of discrimination.

More importantly, this comic book also educates ordinary people on why we need to protect everyone's rights, which institutions would provide this protection and how to do it in countries outside of South Africa - which specifically, constitutionally and legally protects LGBTI and GNC persons' rights.

The comic book is written in both English and Portuguese as it is meant to be distributed throughout Southern Africa, through Civil Society Organisations affiliated with The Other Foundation.

As in the true tradition on of any BB Comics (Pty) Ltd. title, you, the reader will surely enjoy it as the comic book is not preachy, it tells an entertaining story set in a world you a familiar with.

A digital copy of the comic book will be available soon, for you to download and enjoy, for absolutely free!

Here is an awesome interview Gushwell Brooks (Chief Creative Officer at BB Comics (Pty) Ltd. and writer of our awesome titles) on ENCA, on the 12th October 2020:
